Hexennacht 2023: Rebirth By Transformation

  • July 14th & July 15th

Cabaret Voltaire Société & Diversions is delighted to see Hexennacht festival grow! Historically Hexennacht was a local one day event at Logans Pub in 2016 and now it is an international and interactive two day experience!

Hexennacht is a two day festival of femme magick, the femme magick of creating our dreams and finding our voices. Hexennacht is a celebration of femme people creating with abandon.

Our society’s definition of ‘femme’ includes cis women, non-binary and trans individuals. Hexennacht is important to us because we believe the art and music of such creators deserves amplification in a masculine dominant society.

In an effort to remain inclusive of all abilities, locations and financial experiences, Hexennacht 2022 is a free, hybrid online and in person experience.

Hexennacht 2023: Rebirth By Transformation, is inspired by the element of Fire, and all art work and music that is part of the festival is in way or another informed by this element!

  • On July 15th Capital Bike will be holding a Hexennacht finale bike ride!

The ride begins at Janion Plaza, beside the Johnson Street Bridge at Pandora and Store Streets.

We will head down Wharf St and down to Ship Point for an impromptu dance party! Then we'll get back on wharf and continue to Humboldt St, down to Vancouver and onto Beacon Hill Park.

If we're ahead of schedule, we'll head down to Clover Point Park for another quick danceathon before heading back to the Cameron Bandshell at Beacon Hill Park.

This ride is taking place entirely on the AAA bike network, so it should be suitable for everyone.

Please obey traffic laws! Larger rides will go slow, so take your time, groove to the music, chat with your riding buddy and have a great time!

Feel free to dress up, bring the kids and have a little fun, but remember to wear a helmet!

  • In addition to the scheduled experiences, we are pleased to launch with the great creative and inventive support of local app developer Andrew March: HexApp!

HexApp is a location specific soundscape and field recording mobile app! It’s design is simply a map with way points that will play participating artists sound art when you select them.

HexApp is an interactive representation of our borderless creativity and connects us all through experimental sound art!
