“A term coined by Marcel Duchamp in 1916 to describe prefabricated, often mass-produced objects isolated from their intended use and elevated to the status of art by the artist choosing and designating them as such.”

Cabaret Voltaire Readymades

Inspired by the term and concept created by Marcel Duchampe, our original and ongoing events outside of Hexennacht and The Gelfing Arts Camp are best described as ‘Readymades’. They are events that have been altered from the traditional notion of what an event is and are in turn elevating and quite fun experiences.

When attending a Cabaret Voltaire Readymade, you are a participant just as much as the performers are, it is through performance and active observation that new ideas are born. We value the impact that every detail has on creative experiences and take care to combine both the unique venue space and performance in a complementary manner.

It is our ultimate goal that both performers and audience members will depart with a mind full of new inspiring ideas at the end of a Readymade happening.
